A trip to Cleveland Ohio would not be complete without a stop at the West Side Market. Locals have enjoyed this colorful and exciting market since 1912. The building alone is worth a visit. With its Byzantine architecture and adjacent clock tower, it is sure to impress people of all backgrounds. Inside they have 44 foot high ceilings done in terracotta tiles, and there are wonderful pictures of animals decorating the columns.
This indoor/outdoor market is located in the western neighborhood of Ohio City. The 180 vendors offer all sorts of ethnic delicacies from a variety of cultures for guests to explore. The West Side Market does an excellent job of combining quality foods with quite affordable prices. This is one of the reasons it is such a hit with the locals. Beautiful fresh produce and dairy products are only a few of the many foods available here. Several bakeries have fresh breads and irresistible sweets on display. One can even buy varieties of fresh cut flowers from the flower vendors located in the outside part of the market. The West Side Market is also one of the best spots to purchase quality meats and seafood in the Cleveland area.
